Where does The Classic Wine Tour travel to?
The Classic Wine Tour begins in Queenstown and starts the journey out of town, passing by the shores of Lake Wakatipu waterfront and into the “a Valley of the Vines” Gibbston wine region. The drive takes approximately 20-25 minutes depending on where the first vineyard is located.
Which vineyards does The Classic Wine Tour visit?
The Classic Wine Tour has one set vineyard and the other two vineyards change depending on the day. The tour includes a guided tour through New Zealand’s largest wine cave at Gibbston Valley Winery. The other two vineyards can change and this means we can take vineyard requests! We do have some favourites that we like to visit which include Chard Farm, Kinross, Mt Rosa, Brennan and Akarua Wines.
How many wine tastings are included on this tour?
We visit three vineyards on The Classic Wine Tour. The Gibbston Valley wine cave includes 4 tastings inside the cave. The other two vineyards will offer somewhere between 5-10 tastings each, depending on the vineyard. This means you will taste between 14-18 tastings. Every vineyard provides spittoons where wine can be spat out or tipped out.
Does The Classic Wine Tour include any food?
Yes! We include a delightful cheese board which accompanies one of the wine tastings. Wine and cheese, is there a better combination!? Please make sure you have a solid lunch before this tour.
How many people does The Classic Wine Tour take?
The Classic Wine Tour runs every day with a minimum of 2 pax and a maximum of 19 pax (in peak season). If the number of pax matters to you, please enquire and we can let you know how many people are booked on on your date of interest.
Do you run Private Tours for groups?
Yes! We can run The Classic Wine Tour on a private basis and offer group discounts! (Minimum numbers apply). We can also create your very own Custom Wine Tour! Simply email us with your group details and any special requests we will get back to you with the perfect tour to suit.
What type of vehicles do you use for your tours?
We have a wide range of luxury vehicles and this depends on the group size. The majority of our tours will run in a modern Mercedes-Benz Sprinter minivan with varying seating configuration. We also have a range of luxury sedans and Mercedes-Benz Vianos for couples of sets of couples who choose to do a private tour.
Where does The Classic Wine Tour leave from?
The Classic Wine Tour departs from outside the Station Building (corner of Camp Street and Shotover Street) at 1:25pm. However, we also offer complimentary hotel transfers and these will be completed before the tour start time. Select your hotel from the drop down menu upon booking and this will automatically generate a pickup time for you.
