One of Queenstown’s most iconic experiences across Lake Wakatipu showcases some of the region’s spectacular alpine scenery while offering plenty of time to explore a piece of living history.

Today, the TSS Earnslaw is believed to be the oldest working coal-fired passenger steamship in the southern hemisphere. Explore the decks, from the engine room viewing platform, to the Skipper’s wheelhouse … feel the heat of the giant steam engines at work and watch the stokers shovel coal into the glowing fireboxes.

Study the historic displays in the mini museum, the Fo’c’sle gallery and enjoy a drink and some café style food at the Promenade Café and Bar. On the return journey let loose and enjoy a sing-along with the pianist –  guaranteed fun for sure! The skipper provides full commentary and highlights points of interest during the cruise. Suitable for all ages.

Departure Point: Real Journeys Visitor Centre, Steamer Wharf, 88 Beach Street, Queenstown.

Please note: Combo is for TSS Earnslaw cruise only.  Passengers do not disembark at Walter Peak.

What to Bring: Comfortable shoes and warm clothing.

Café & Bar: A variety of food and beverages (including espresso coffee) is available as well as full bar services from the Promenade Cafe on the TSS Earnslaw as it cruises to and from Walter Peak.

Commentaries/Interpretation: Commentary is provided by the Skipper in English and interpretation handouts are available in English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Thai, Korean and Chinese.

Our friendly guide will collect you from the bus stop outside Cafe Marmolada, 43 Camp Street, at 1:15pm. Get ready to join a fun-filled afternoon of stunning sights and magnificent wines.
